From your hosts: This is one of our personal recommendations for guests staying at Panoramic View House. We know this place well and we are happy to give you more details or help you get there.

Tucked away in the mountains of the Kurvelesh region above Tepelenë, the Progonati Waterfall — also known locally as Peshtura Waterfall — is one of the area’s best-kept natural secrets. This cascade tumbles through a forested gorge, creating a natural pool at its base that is perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day.

The Hike

Reaching the waterfall requires a hike through mountain terrain, passing through the village of Progonat in the Kurvelesh highlands. The trail winds through oak and beech forests with views over the wider Tepelenë valley. The total hike is moderate in difficulty and suitable for reasonably fit walkers.

Planning Your Visit

This is a destination best visited with a local guide who knows the trails. Avni at Panoramic View House knows this area well and can arrange a guided hike. Bring water, sturdy shoes, and a swimsuit for the pool at the base of the falls. Best visited May through October.
