Perched on the ridgeline above Tepelenë, the Lera Towers are a pair of Ottoman-era stone watchtowers that once served as defensive positions controlling the Vjosa valley below. These towers are part of the fortification network built during the reign of Ali Pasha Tepelena and offer a fascinating glimpse into the military architecture of southern Albania.

What to Expect

The towers sit on a hillside with commanding views over Tepelenë, the Vjosa River, and the surrounding mountains. The stonework is remarkably well-preserved, and the setting is wonderfully remote — you are unlikely to encounter other visitors. The walk up is steep but short, and the panoramic views from the top are spectacular.

How to Get There

The Lera Towers are located above the village of Lera, a short drive from Tepelenë town center. Avni at Panoramic View House can guide you there or give directions. The final approach is on foot along a mountain path.
