The Cold Water of Tepelena (Uji i Ftohtë) is a famous natural spring located along the Tepelenë-Gjirokastra highway. For centuries, this crystal-clear karst spring has served as a resting point for travelers passing through the valley. The water emerges from deep limestone caves in the Kurvelesh mountains, cold and pure year-round.
The spring is surrounded by natural vegetation — large oak trees and bushes create a shaded, peaceful atmosphere. The sound of rushing water, the coolness of the air, and the birdsong make it a natural rest stop. A small park area with benches allows visitors to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The spring has scientific value for its hydrological and geomorphological properties.
The spring is on the main SH4 highway between Tepelenë and Gjirokastra, easily spotted from the road. You can stop on your way to or from Gjirokastra. It is about a 5-minute drive from Panoramic View House.
